Oh, how often we sigh, remembering our childhood dreams that never came true. But he himself did not learn the treasured “three chords”, although he bought a cool guitar from the first independent salary.
But actually after 30 years (when the life of most of us gets bogged down in a continuous, gray and sluggish routine), we just have almost everything in order to take and fulfill these very childhood dreams. By this age, we are at least independent, more or less know what we want, we have some personal finances that we can spend as we wish. And all these: “Yes, I'm too old!”, “Yes, I still can’t succeed!”, “They just laugh at me!” - these are all excuses. How do you know that will fail? You have not tried it! And age is a very relative concept. So here, choose - in front of you are 10 things that you can do at any age. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list! You can easily complement it. So go ahead!
10. Always be fit
You are only a little over 40, but you feel like a Sharik from Prostokvashino (remember, he wrote in his letter to Uncle Fyodor to his parents, “And my health is not very good. It either breaks my legs, or my tail falls off”)? But didn’t you try to do exercises in the morning, run at least a couple of kilometers, go to fitness, in the end? What? Is "I'm Too Old" Again?
So, you lazy ass - if you are not going to sit down on a bench by the age of 50 with grandmothers who all day discussing young people and sharing symptoms of their own illnesses with each other, then take your feet in your hands and run to the gym. Firstly, you will very quickly be surprised how much more energetic you began to feel. Secondly, if you make a little more effort, you will lose your beloved beer belly, but you will get beautiful biceps. And thirdly, you will feel much more confident.
9. To dance
If you love rhythmic music, and your legs themselves begin to dance at the very first sounds of your favorite songs - why not learn to do it almost professionally? “Ah, my figure is not the same. I'm awkward. Blah blah blah ... "So? And there’s nothing of the kind! Nobody forces you to master the lower break and twist somersaults. You can also choose something calmer - a waltz, tango or any other classical dance. And you know what?
You yourself will not notice how you get a “royal” posture, make new friends and become much more confident in yourself. By the way, many dance teachers claim that novice dancers 40 years and older achieve much greater success than 20-25 year olds. Why? Because they are focused specifically on the dance, as well as on their own feelings, and not on how others will look at them.
8. Draw
“Ohhh! To do this, you definitely need to have natural talent! Learning to draw as a professional is impossible for an adult. ” Not true! If you had even the slightest inclinations to draw in your childhood (and most importantly - a great desire to do this), then you can develop them at any age. To get started, learn what today can easily be found on the Internet (books on drawing, films about famous artists, instructional video tutorials on various art techniques, etc., etc.).
Try several options: maybe it will be more interesting for you to create pictures from sand or on water than on a regular paper sheet? As a last resort, just sign up for an art school - now adult groups are often recruited there. And one day you will surprise your friends and relatives with your own paintings or sculptures.
7. Play the guitar
Learning to play the guitar or any other musical instrument (as well as sing, by the way) is impossible only in one case - if a bear has trodden very carefully on your ears. Hmm ... Yes, and then, if you were told about this by friends who once graduated from music school and who think that they have a perfect ear, do not rush to believe. Check your hearing with a music educator. In many cases, it is still detected.
Guitar fans claim that more or less mastering the strings and learning to understand the main chords can be done in just a couple of weeks. And after a month or two you will already quite confidently play several tunes. Your main task is to find a good teacher (lessons can take place online) and practice constantly. And then at the next friendly party (or on a camping trip by the evening bonfire) you will cause a pleasant interest in the opposite sex, which you had dreamed of in your youth.
6. Taking pictures
Every day you look at other people's colorful photo landscapes and expressive portraits on the Internet, sincerely admire them, but you think that you yourself can never create such beauty? Believe me, to make a masterpiece, you do not need to be either photogenic or the owner of a super-duper-fancy camera. To get started, pick up your digital “soap box” and finally figure out what all these icons on its screen mean. Browse through photography books and watch a few video tutorials.
By the way, now there are many online photo courses on the Internet. And do not be afraid that you, they say, will never remember all these wisdom with shutter speed, aperture, light, filters, etc. Learn how to properly build a frame, master a few simpler photo editors, practice more often, and gradually you will get the skill and understanding.
5. Cook
If the only dish that you can cook expertly is scrambled eggs, but you really would like to at least occasionally surprise your loved ones with mouth-watering and beautifully served delicious dishes, then these days (when every house has not only a TV, but also the Internet, and in any supermarket - a huge assortment of a wide variety of ingredients and semi-finished products for the preparation of any dishes) nothing prevents you from becoming a real culinary specialist.
Think about what specific dishes you want to specialize in (you’re unlikely to immediately become a universal chef?), Which cuisine is more to your taste - Italian, Japanese, Caucasian or another. Watch cooking channels on television or the lessons of renowned kitchen masters on the Internet and get started immediately. And, perhaps, in a year or two you will become an indispensable “main meat” or the best dessert master in the company of your friends.
4. Understand yourself
In our youth, as a rule, we have a huge number of acquaintances (and we sincerely consider many of them friends), we easily make connections, try to experience as many new sensations as possible and get the most out of life, we grab onto and for that ... But by the age of 35-40, we suddenly realize that we do not enjoy the things that we once (like) liked. Or didn’t we like them? It was just, at that time, fashionable, mainstream, cool ...
Or maybe you should finally sit down, think and figure out what we really want? Who is really a friend to us, and who is just a friend, with whom I don’t really want to continue talking? What pastime do you really like, and what do you have to do “through force” or just out of habit? And is it even necessary? What is more important - work or family? What things do we really like to wear, and which ones do we put on “because my wife bought”? As soon as all these questions are answered, your inner harmony will come.
3. Learn on your own
“Learn, study and study,” remember whose words these are? In fact, now we all voluntarily or involuntarily have to learn something new all our lives. Such times are already in the yard, and nothing can be done about it. We study in order to find a new (better paid) job, or to not be fired from the old place, and also because over the years we have become interested in something that for some reason was not carried away at all in school (for example, history, or geography, or physics). But, alas, not everyone knows how to learn on their own. Although it would seem that the Internet these days is simply overflowing with a variety of online courses and webinars, including free ones, for every taste. And how many books and manuals can now be found on almost any topic (at least in the usual, at least in the electronic format)! Want to tighten up the grammar of the Russian language? Well, who is stopping you? Want to learn marketing? Make a personal lesson plan and get started!
2. Develop memory
Scientists say that people who constantly and actively use their own brains (read a lot, solve various intellectual problems, make mathematical calculations, etc.) are much less likely to suffer from dementia, Alzheimer's disease and other similar unpleasant things in old age.
The best way to train your brain is to develop memory. Try not to write down, but to remember the phone numbers of relatives and friends, your shopping lists and important matters, friends' birthdays and much more. It helps to improve memory by memorizing verses and quotes by heart (which, if necessary, can “flash” in a company). Solve crosswords (but not scanwords - they are too easy!), Sudoku, logic tasks and other puzzles. And just read more!
1. Speak a foreign language
By the way! Learning a foreign language is also a great simulator for the brain. Do not believe that undertaking English, German, any other language after 30 is a disastrous thing. If you once began to learn languages (at least, at school), but then quit, - all the same, without any difficulty remember at least the basics. What could be your motivation?
Well, first of all, you will feel much more confident in traveling abroad. Secondly, now in many companies when employing, they require basic knowledge of a foreign language (often, of course, English). And thirdly, if you make more efforts and learn the language at a higher level, you will get a good chance to get an excellent, very well-paid position in an international company (especially when it’s not about English, French or French, but much less popular in our country - in the sense of learning - Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese and other languages).
In any city there is now a mass of foreign courses of varying degrees of intensity, including with native speakers in the role of teachers. And a little advice: find yourself on the Internet an interlocutor - a resident of the country whose language you are teaching. Chat with him via e-mail, talk on Skype, discuss different topics - this will be the best practice.
